Just like our other ventures, we have had chickens, ducks, and even turkeys. At the moment, we have 5 chickens. They are all hens, and 4 are still young. When the weather is warm we have been averaging 2 eggs a day.
The chicken flock may be increasing soon. Our oldest daughter has applied to get 4-H chickens this year. If we are chosen, we will be getting 30 baby chicks. That experience should be interesting to follow.
We have also made our own chicken tractor. It's great because it's portable.The chickens like it and it works well to keep them safe from all the critters around here.
